May 17, 2019

At 8:12 this morning, station 2 was dispatched for a house fire in the 1300 block of Main Street. Although Engine/Tanker 24 found nothing evident from the street-side upon arrival, an odor of burning was noted when the crew exited the fire engine. When the fire officer from Engine/Tanker 24 discovered smoke from the eves and second story windows as he was performing his 360-degree walk-around he declared a working fire.

The crew from Engine/Tanker 24 pulled an attack hose line and, along with the crew from Manchester and a Baltimore County Battalion chief, made access to the attic of the structure to find fire in the ceiling near a light fixture. While the interior crews quickly extinguished the visible fire from the inside, crews from Truck 2 and Westminster Tower 3 opened up a portion of the roof to help remove smoke and to access the fire that was between the roof decking and the metal roofing.

One kitten was removed by the crews.

Engine/Tanker 24, Truck 2, and Medic 29 cleared after the scene was turned over to State Fire Marshall’s Office for investigation.
