To keep the public informed, we will display the current status of open burning in our area in the footer section of our website. A hyperlink will be provided to the applicable documentation for the status. The first violation of the ban is a $300 citation. When there is no burn ban in effect, Carroll County still has regulations and requires a burn permit for any open burning, except for small recreational fires such as campfires and for outdoor cooking of food. Burning in a barrel is considered to be open burning. Maryland Air Quality Regulations prohibit the burning of trash or refuse at any time. |
