Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company Celebrates 125 Years of Service with Parade and Open House

October 4, 2025

The Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company proudly celebrated its 125th Anniversary today with a community-wide Parade and Open House. The event brought together residents, neighboring fire companies, community organizations, and local leaders to honor more than a century of service and dedication to the Hampstead community.

The day kicked off with a festive parade at noon, featuring fire and rescue apparatus from across the region. The procession began at Lower Beckleysville Road and Main Street, traveling north to the fire station.

This year’s anniversary theme — “Honor, Serve, and Prepare” — was showcased throughout the parade. The company honored its past with its oldest member, Sterling Brown, riding on the 1931 antique fire engine. Service to the community was represented by the current members and apparatus fleet, while preparation for the future was symbolized by the Junior Fire Company marching proudly behind them.

Following the parade, guests gathered at the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Station for an Open House, celebrating the department’s proud history and ongoing commitment to public safety. The event also served as the official kickoff for Fire Prevention Week 2025, featuring displays and safety information from multiple organizations.

Visitors enjoyed exploring fire apparatus, meeting HVFC members, and viewing exhibits highlighting the company’s growth since its founding in 1900. Attendees also enjoyed delicious pit beef and pit ham sandwiches — a beloved local tradition.

The Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this milestone event a success — including participating departments, community members, and our dedicated volunteer and career staff.

Here’s to the next 125 years of service, dedication, and tradition — protecting our town, together.
