Hampstead units respond to Reese for a barn fire

By Chief Troy Hipsley
April 18, 2026

Yesterday, the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched alongside multiple Carroll County volunteer fire departments and the Carroll County Department of Fire & EMS to assist Reese with a reported barn fire that had extended to a nearby camper.

Hampstead responded with five pieces of apparatus staffed by 12 dedicated volunteers and supported by 3 DFEMS personnel. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire conditions involving the barn, with extension to the adjacent camper. Firefighters quickly deployed handlines, established water supply operations, and worked in coordination with assisting units to contain the spread of the fire.

Hampstead officers also filled various Incident Command-level positions throughout the operation, helping to coordinate strategy, manage resources, and ensure the safety and accountability of all personnel operating on the scene.

Crews operated for over two hours, working diligently in challenging conditions to bring the incident under control and prevent further extension. Their efforts, along with the strong collaboration between departments, helped bring a swift and coordinated resolution to a potentially more significant loss.

We would like to thank all responding agencies for their teamwork and professionalism.
